About the Cover for Blood 114 (18)
IL-5 selectively drives the differentiation of eosinophils from hematopoietic progenitor cells. IL-5–specific signaling pathways were explored via modulation of syntenin, an IL-5Rα–binding adapter protein, in human hematopoietic progenitor cells. Cytospins of CD34+ cells transduced with syntenin and stained by May-Grünwald-Giemsa revealed enhanced IL-5–induced eosinophil numbers as shown in this photograph.
