Data are presented on the changing pattern of the Fe59 uptake and
emergence curve following irradiation and hypertransfusion. The data obtained appear to be inconsistent with the notion that population pressure
influences the release of red cells from the marrow. The implications of
these data on the understanding of the kinetics of red cell production are
discussed.
